Based
on my experience with a wide variety of cars and
trucks, as you have seen, or will see when you visit the Numbers
page, I have certain preferences. You may agree or not, but then,
everybody is entitled to, and has their own opinion.
I recently placed a question
to newsgroup readers regarding what kind of
cars they drove and why? And one
specifically targeted to Mercedes buyers,
asking why they preferred Mercedes.
My responses were quite general, but
I found that more persons did not particularly
think about the dealer as opposed
to the model of vehicle they wanted.
No one gave me any reasons as to why
they did or did not prefer front wheel
drive over or against rear wheel drive, but
one friend did write that tires
make all the difference. He preferred expensive
Goodyear
or Michelin tires because of the characteristics that offered
to either
ront or rear wheel drive vehicles.
To be honest, I had not given much consideration
to tires, only because I only had one
vehicle on which I replaced tires, and I always
bought the least expensive tires made
to fit the car (Cadillac). I suppose that he
may have something here, because he had
put several kinds of tires on a few vehicles,
and found that handling and road-ability
improved with the brands mentioned above.
I just got new Uniroyal Tiger Paw tires
for both the truck and the car.
This is the 2005 Chevrolet Monte Carlo luxury sports car (for four).
Check it out at your Chevrolet dealer.

I have enjoyed driving and think are good values today:

GMC makes the premier luxury people mover (across town or across the
countryside).
This is the land yacht for today if you have to travel long distances
with a lot of big people. |
|
The view is panoramic, and the ease of driving is undeniable.
Arrive as refreshed as you were when you set out on your journey. |
|
Beware, gas economy is not a premium feature of these vehicles, but
if you have 6 adults to move several hundred miles, the people miles per
gallon is more efficient than having to take two smaller vehicles that
don’t get even twice the economy. |
STILL HIGHLY OVERRATED...
-
Mercedes...
I
don't like Mercedes. Period. None of them.
I don't like the way they handle. And, I've driven several..
-
Lexus...
A
better bargain would be a Toyota Avalon. Way over-priced.
-
Toyota...
What kind of feelin' were you having?
-
Acura...
They're okay... but over-priced. Buy a Honda instead.
-
Chrysler...
Yeah, right.
You owe it to yourself to take a look at
American-designed and built automobiles, again.
Since 1999 the Buick Century Custom hasn't
changed much...
A Burgundy
econo-luxury cruiser (my term for a Buick Century Custom) graced my
garage for almost 3 years. It was
loaded with options that truly made it a luxury car.
The style is modern and sleek.
The ride is excellent And at this stage in my life, ride is
everything. Handling is brisk
and predictable, too! The controls are well-placed
for
ease of operation and within easy
reach.
The engine is silent. But
best of all, I'm averaged 30.2 miles per gallon and that puts it
right up there with the economy misers
available in almost any price range. (Yes, I said
30.2 miles per gallon -- got 31 mpg on
recent long road trip.) If you can spend a bit more
than the price of the Chevy Malibu noted
above, and you only carry six (6) or fewer
persons any given day, then take a good
look at a real car... Buick Century. Oh, by the way,
the Malibu I rented was a 5-passenger
sedan.
ALL THE REST...
I
can take them or leave them.
